Hello Blogger! I guess ill start my first off with the 2012 movie world. 2011 was the worst attended year for movies since 1995, but 2012 suddenly has brought new life, why? Safe House, Vow, Devil Inside, Chronicle, Woman in Black, Journey 2, Project X, and now Lorax have all exceeded opening expectations, with Lorax opening 25 million higher than expectations.
February was the 4th most attended and highest grossing ever, while 2011 does not even touch the top 10 in attendance. So what is making 2012 so different? Why are people coming back? More appealing movies, the economy, less sequels, and better marketing could all be reasons.
March 2012 has already gotten off to a great start with Lorax and Project X; can March sustain 2012's current fire? Or will all these high numbers taper down? We shall see.
And for us film goers, it is sad to see such mediocre films like Project X representing what our society wants. You can't blame the producers for making it though, as it appeals to the masses, but in no way has any artistic value of which I have been raised to expect in films.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, but I think 2012 is so hot because these movies are having better appeal, but we dont want people to think America is one big Project X, hah.
